11/10 p.s., week-old baby blog …
Oh, one more thing to add to the previous happy birthday little blog entry.
Really, two things. First, I am so grateful to you, my fellow passengers, on our exciting journey through our Blogland adventure.
Thank you for joining me.
Second, I make no secret that I’m a relative Blogland foreigner, and I’m unfamiliar with its language and customs. That’s why I welcome suggestions and observations from you seasoned, well-traveled Bloglanders, as well as insights from newcomers. For example, Barbara R. mentioned that I might want to steer clear of the boring, “I went to the dry cleaners” blog. Oh sure. How boring would that be?
Don’t feel shy about telling me what kinds of topics you’d find interesting, especially as we expand the upcoming, multi-layered Web page. We’re in this together.
Moving on, happy Saturday everyone. (Nearly 22,000 total hits as of this morning. Stop me. I can’t stop checking stats.)
Time to make a quiche for a Saturday brunch. I’ll post the recipe later.

Doni, I have an idea for your blog. People could send in pictures and info of their travels. Tips on what to see, what to pack, etc.

Doni, greetings from your local astronomy club director. Keep your chin up, we all have low points in life. Then there are the high points too. This should give you time to sit back and think about your place in the scheme of things.
It will be good to have a civilized “blog” in NorCal. I’m always disappointed every time I read Redding.com, it’s so poor in quality. It may, but I hope not, display the character and level of education here in this area. The spelling and grammar are atrocious. There are those who even use it as a chat room. They could use a cell phone just as well. Hope they will clean it up in the future. It does serve a useful purpose for the community but it could be so much better. In time, your little blog could succeed in that and do a better job. Then, even larger things can happen. Best of luck with what ever you do. Regards, Bob

Doni…I’d like to hear more stories of your famous dad, Don Chamberlain. He was my favorite boss in radioland and it was a true joy to work with him for many years. My best to you this rainy Saturday. I hope the sting of being fired by his dorkness has lessened somewhat by now. Have a good one and I’ll talk to you again. Budd Hodges, bdg741@aol.com

Good morning, Doni! I don’t really have anything to add but I wanted you to know that I am checking this site twice a day to see what you and others have to say. It feels so good to stay connected with you.
I am going to use my “GrammaLyn” name from now on when I write, since I’m not keen on putting my last name on anything.
Enjoy this delicious rainy day, and remember how much we all love you!

Happy one week birthday, little blog! Gosh, it’s hard to imagine this world before your existence…a week ago, a lil infant blog..a sweet bundle of love via your talented son,(+ input from humble computer-whiz friend) and the wonders of cyberworld. Look how far you’ve come! You are stretching, reaching to grasp and lifting your head…all for us, your family and friends, to share in “real time”! As the great Mr. Armstrong sang, “What a Wonderful World!” Indeed.:-) P.S, I’m not getting the beautiful color header margin photo that I saw on your computer…is that still in progress?
Doni, I can attest that you have not been abducted by aliens, for I made the same “never blog in my lifetime” claim…I realize now that claim was made upon the assumption that all blogs were the stuff of self-absorbed-navel gazers…like reading someone’s journal…However, since this blog proves otherwise, I submit my apology of ignorance to the alturistic blogs…
Hello, up there, Budd! Our Dad spoke so highly of you…you were a good friend…and were a fun memory of a happier part of our childhood…hope everyone is enjoying this cozy rainy Saturday…I loved the 85 degrees the other day, but This is true northstate November!

PS. I’ve always loved your stories about NorCal and Redding. Keep doing that, your history lessions are very interesting to someone like me who has only lived here 15 years of so. Bob

22,000 hits — Fabulous, m’dear!
If you’re taking requests, I love local history, local landmarks, cherished memories and local characters. Oh, yeah — and food. Tried and true recipes. Pumpkin Ravioli is on the menu tomorrow (my family is skeptical – oh, THERE’S something new…) and I’d love more.
Thanks for taking this chance, and for taking us with you.

It’s REALLY going to be good!
I am amazed at what you have done in a weeks time. In addition to the suggestions above (local history, cooking, local characters) I love your stories of every day life’s little surprises and challenges. Things to make us laugh, think and relate (the possum in the bedroom, children leaving the nest, experiences getting through airport security). You have such a keen sense of observation and writing style that is so unique. We have gone to the same events and later, when you describe it, I feel like I missed something; like I saw it in black and white and you saw it in color. That is such a gift I hope you continue to share with your readers.

Hi Doni,
I hope you can write the Christmas check list (I don’t remember the exact title) of 10(I think) things you check off in the north state, e.g. the little tree all decorated on I 5. Maria

I loved reading the profiles on local cooks, and I admit to being biased, but I also loved your cooking with kids segments and ideas. I’m really excited about the prospect of your website. I hope it’s up and running soon!

Grew up in Redding, my entire family is still there. Record Searchlight is in my “News” folder on my favorites, and now so is Doni Greenberg. I love the local news and history, Doni. I’m just trying to keep up with the life that my family is living.

As usual, without benefit of the physical newspaper, I finally found out what happened with your missing column, a week after the fact. (Here I thought the RS website format had changed again…causing another round of “Can you find this or that?”). I just wanted to say congrats on blog and continued success in any of your future endeavours. Although, I didn’t always agree with some of your opinions, I still enjoyed reading almost every column since Day One (mostly from Southern California, courtesy of the Internet). Rather than stir controversy with some bizarre comments on the decision(s) made by both sides, I’ll just write that, like many will most likely express, will be looking forward to the expansion of this blog in the future. Best.

I talked to your sister the other day and she said the paper doesn’t worry about the 50 somethings, that we have to have our cup of coffee with the paper in the morning. That pushed me to the door to cancel my subscription (ok, just the Monday – Thursday). I tried looking around the online version didn’t find anything much of interest, then I went on to your blog of which I’ve been a regular reader. I have my coffee in hand! You go, girl:)

Hi Doni -
Congrats on the success of your new blog-site. Vindication for sure! Since you’re asking, I would love it if you could contact the gentleman (can’t remember his name) who was the owner of River City Bar & Grill. My friends and I all agree that his crab cakes were the best we’d ever tasted anywhere, and I, and I’m sure others, would love the recipe now that we’re getting close to crab season again. Best of luck to you in the new chapter of your career!
